Bathroom Smells Like Fish
To get rid of the smell but nothing seemed to shift it.
Bathroom smells like fish. Can anyone give any insight to a bathroom smell that smells like a fish. So the fish smell was greatest after having been in the bathroom with all of the lighting on for 15 20 minutes. Burning wires caused by a bad connection arc smell of fish.
It seems to happen when i run the shower. I thought the drains were playing up so i tried bleach e t c. I also cut a hole directly behind the wall where the shower is connected but it is dry and there is no smell.
If your toilet smells like fish you could have a plumbing or electrical problem or just a bad case of bathroom mold. Being lead down the wrong path can be disastrous if the source of fish odor in your home is actually from plastic electrical components heating up in your walls. You could catch the house on fire.
Its obviously impossible to check this for you over the internet however an electric shower is a huge power user and this will cause a sub standard cable to heat up. It drove us nuts trying to work out what it was because it only seemed to be a problem at night. Sniff near each of these while they are running to try to.
I googled to see what else i could try and to my amazement i found out that when wires are melting burning they cause this horrible smell. Some people refer to this as a urine or burning rubber smell. Warning this smell is serious.
Fishy smell that s not fish. A fishy smell can be a sign of electrical circuits overheating. This could be something electrical in the home overheating and melting its insulating plastic or rubber which could lead to a fire.
As it turns out taking a shower just exacerbated the faulty electrical switch because the bathroom wiring was routed through that outlet. Your shower appears to come in a number of power models ranging from an 8 5kw to a 10kw. Old ones can emit a horrid fishy smell when they get hot.
For a few days our bathroom has smelt horrible like rotten fish. Of course with hindsight that was when the light was turned on. I thought it was the ac heat units but it is only coming into this room and i had the trunks replaced.
The most likely culprit is an appliance such as a dishwasher washing machine or an air conditioner. While i m not certain why this happened i have a theory. Mold rodents and sewer gas do not smell like rotten fish at all.
